California Trip

"Living on Earth may be expensive, but it includes an annual free trip around the Sun."

Friday night, we drove to California for the weekend to celebrate our friend's wedding. Stayed at the modern Marriott which was only a 15-minute drive to the ceremony.

The weather was perfect on Saturday. Our friend's Taiwanese wedding started at 8:30 am and the ceremony was really long but interesting. Monks chant prayers for about 30-35 minutes and another hour of blessing. We also had to take off our shoes before coming in the temple. Mark had to leave the temple because Ryu was crying for food. Thank goodness my sister came along with us to California (she was done with her semester exams and needed a break from school).

Then we went to visit our friend, Albert and his shop Rooted Movement at Ponoma. He had cool, funky displays of urban products. When Ryu woke up, Albert took a picture with him. So glad my chubby, little koala woke up smiling.

For dinner, we went to this place called Pho-vi Vietnamese Cuisine close by. The food was delicious. Mark was enjoying his soup. We got some Thai tea with Tapioca too. Yum!

On Mother's Day, we went shopping at Ikea. All I wanted for Mother's day was to buy cute stuff for my son. I feel in love with Ikea's adorable bedroom furniture for the kids. Unfortunately, we didn't have any room in the car so we are planning to come back. I bought a couple little items though...so excited! For lunch, Albert recommended eating their Swedish meatballs. It was so juicy and flavorful that we had to get seconds. Mark said that the guy who rang him up told Mark that he seen guys come up for seconds but never saw a guy appear this quick to get more meatballs. I was eating some off of his plate too. Haha.

We drove back to Vegas in the evening. Our trip was fun and it was Ryu's first trip to California. He was really good and didn't cry much. Wished that we stayed a little longer but we will come back again someday...Disneyland perhaps!
